Made by me :l Original post here (http://newforum.ogplanet.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=107962)
I thought of this about a year ago but thought someone would have already posted it, or it would've been in production already. Anyways
As the title suggests, I think we should have a sideways Moving Screen. The possibilities are numerous here and I know it would be possible (At the end of a regular Demo match the screen moves a little to the left. I'm put up some ideas but You guys can suggest anything too.
Morning Rush
This map would have you on a highway going form Left to Right. Since it IS a highway there would obviously be Cars and stuff coming at you (Think about the cart in Incinerator). There could be a small arrow point at the direction and lane the car will come from. Every now and again a Pickup truck would come by and break down, making it go walking pace (Same speed as the Moving screen speed) so you could get on it and loot any Powerups/Food that are on it. The moving screen will end at a Giant overturned Truck with angry bystanders shaking their fists in the air (Or something :P).
Late-Night Drive
Basically a Night version of Morning Rush. It goes backwards. Same concepts as morning rush except cars will come a little faster, and the Arrow won't show them as fast. Occasionally there will be a car chase in which a Robbers car breaks down due to a police spike (Stepping on this spike will hurt you the same way the fire charger small fire would, so you would be stepping around. also, the robbers car and the police car would be the same speed as pick up truck). You would think the robbers would be done for, but luckily for them, the police get stuck in the chain too. So now you got an incredibly slow car chase going with the police chasing and the robbers shooting (Cannon barrel shots lol). You can get hit by the bullets the robbers use. Eventually you will hit a traffic jam and the robbers/cops will disappear, but now you have to jump over the hoods of the cars to get across. Certain cars will have flashy lights, and if you step on them hydraulics will knock your character up and stun them for awhile. The Moving Screen ends at a police block (Which is the cause of the traffic jam).
TL;DR Version
Morning Rush- A moving screen going right. On a highway. Several obstacles. In Morning Rush you should be able to see Demolition, Risky Escape leading into Rooftop, China Town, and part of Blacktop.
Late-Night Drive- Like Morning Rush, set in night time. Harder version of Morning Rush. More obstacles, slower pointer response times. In Late-Night Drive you should be able to see in the background Night City (obviously) The coliseum that holds Ring of Death., and a strange Building that contains Hangar.
This next one is Sideways necessarily. instead it goes in all directions at one point in the map.
Accursed Grotto
Think Fatal Frame. You and the other players appear in the front of a somewhat creepy house (Dark, Cloudy, Some thunder, etc). The players make their way into the house and come across 3 boxes. Depending on which box they break, the moving screen will go that certain way. Once you break a box, the other boxes become invincible.
Taking a Left
Should you break the box on the left, a Bookcase will rotate (Think Scooby-Doo) and reveal a passageway. The players will then make a quick exit, and head out into the "Garden". The Garden is full of dead flower and tombstones (More of a cemetery but w/e). Breaking certain tombstones will make food/Power Ups appear. But others will make the Tombstone explode (Or some other way to hurt you idk) and deal damage to the player directly in front of it. If the players are still alive, then you will make it to a Pool area, but I don't think anyone would want to take a dip. The pool is filled with a Dark green-brown sludge that poisons your character if you get in. There is a mysterious bathouse to the left, but I'll leave that to your imagination. If the characters are still alive, the poolhouse gates will open, heading into a valley. this is the end of this moving screen. if there are still people alive at the end, they will see the Clouds turn to sky, and a starlit view of RumbleCity (I think that's what it's called o_o) As well as the outline of Moonlight Valley and a Giant Highway (Morning Rush/ Late-Night Drive)
Heading Right
Should you break the box on the right, you will head into a seemingly normal Study with a warm fireplace and several bookshelves. once the screen adjusts to the entire room, the walls will start closing in. at first, it will seem like there is no escape (And there really isn't) but then, the fire in the fireplace goes out, revealing a passage. you will have to break down the hearth to get into the passageway. Once if (Supposing you do) you will discover a strange chamber of caves inside the actual house. There are several storage boxes blocking off the already cramped passageway, and you will need to break them in order to get past. the maze branches off into several sections, but let's leave that to imagination and skip the to cave exit. once out of the cave. you will appear in the Mess Hall. Since it IS a MessHall, there is food all about, but be careful, some food has been tampered with (Look for subtle differences form normal food, i.e Square cheese, Green Fish instead of steak, Fugu fish instead of sushi, etc). Eating tampered food will poison you for awhile. Certain kitchen utensils have been known to randomly shoot across the room so be careful for that. If the group is still alive, you will head out onto the Balcony. This is where this Moving Screen ends. If all the players have not died by the end, the Skies will clear up with a starry sky and a decent view of the ocean. You can also see Pirate Harbor, the outline of Dos Palmas, And if you look carefully, Glacier Cove.
Going Up
Should you break the box in the back, a stairs will rise from the floor. Following the steps lies The Stairway. The Stairway seems short and easy at the beginning but once you step onto those steps, the Stairway becomes huge. You have to jump to get over 1 step (Pretty big) and random things might fall from the top. The task seems Larger then Life *Ugh* but there are several move up Medallions on certain steps so look out for those.
After getting through the Stairway, you finally reach the Master Bedroom. This is probably the hardest area out of all in the Accursed Grotto. Random items of furniture will slide across the room dealing massive damage (Think Iron Ball Drop). After a certain time, the windows will shatter, and glass will fall on the floor, should your character step on the glass, they will do the little dance they do if they get in the Fire Chargers Special. After awhile a door will open that somehow leads to the roof. once there you get to fight the remains of your enemies (Which shouldn't take long). If you and someone else still survive, then the Sky will clear up, and you get a view of the sky. You can see several fans floating in the distance, as well as some other things you've never seen before (Let's save that for later).
TL;DR Version
Accursed Grotto-Haunted House type setting, from first room you break one of 3 boxes, each take you in different directions if broken. more of a Mindgame setting for some rooms. requires moderate thought. If you don't break any box, one will be chosen at random.
That's about it for now, if you have any suggestions I would really like to see them
So whatcha think?
