View Full Version : How-To Get your own music in RF

Komos
September 25th, 2008, 07:49 PM
So, you want your own music in RF? Well, first you gotta download this

~Absolutely Nothing!~

Got that? Now lets begin.

1: Open two Explorer Windows. Or you can just go to Start ->My Computer twice times.

2: With one window go to your music folders and pick the music you want. If they are in multiple folders, move them to one common folder for ease of use. NOTE: Use the COPY feature, not CUT. Copy, don't CUT.

3: With your second window, go into your RF folder, then to your Res folder, then to the third folder, your music folder. You'll find music files here. ((Ends in SND or something.))

4: Create a folder here. Name it whatever

5: Go to tool-> Folder Options. Go to the second tab, and if Hide file extensions is checked, uncheck it. If it is not checked, go to step 6.

6: Copy and paste all your music files into your RF music folder that you made.

7: Go back to the RF music folder, and click a MUSIC file name twice SLOWLY so you can change it's name.((Will have the ending .ogg.))

8: CTRL+C

9: Go back to YOUR music folder in the RF music folder, and change one of your songs to the RF music name. EG Red Flag.mp3 becomes Menu_Lobby.ogg There are other music files, that's just an example. It will ask if you want to change the file type. Say yes.

10: Repeat that step for each music you want to rename.

11: Start RF. Once you get to the login screen, STOP.

12: COPY ((CTRL+C)) YOUR music into your RF music folder. Answer yes to all. You won't lose the RF music, trust me.

13: Play RF with your new music!

Questions:

OMG WHERE IS MY RF MUSIC???

Deleted. However, when you exit RF and restart it, it will redownload it. That's the downside to this method. you must Re Copy-Paste your music into your RF folder each time you start.

But what about lag?
This is being run by your RF client, eliminating lag that would be cause by an outside music player.

Possible Problems:

None

Enjoy your new music!

Or, if your lazy, I have my own music available for DL. This is 100% virus free, I swear.

http://www.mediafire.com/file/i4lhwydlzxm/bgm_firehell.zip

I personally think this is some beasty music. Here's some of the songs-

All your base are belong to us-My Char

Rock 'n Rocks-Glacier & related

Zetsubuo Billy-Moonlight & Related

Sparta Remix- Shop

One Winged Angel-Lobby

Kuja's Theme-in Room before Game

Peanut Butter Jelly Time- Scores

That's not all. But you can find out the rest on your own ;D

Unzip it, put it in a folder in your _snd folder, then Copy-Pasta into the main _snd when your about to play. Ya know, pretty much what I said to do up there.

Another way is to take your .mp3 file and copy it. Rename the copy after the exact same name of the song you want to replace (Stage_Rooftop). Use the audio program Audacity to convert the .mp3 into a .oog file. Open Rumble Fighter and let the updater update. Once at the login screen, put the file into the sound folder and let it overwrite. The song should play.

A great song to replace Stage_Rooftop (I think that's what it is), since it is also the same song as Glacier Cave:

My way requires no downloading what-so-ever, and works. And really is the same thing. Just your way requires a download.

To save your music when you finish playing and exit, open the rf or rez w/e folder copy and paste the current music folder you just used somewhere so you don't lose your hard work.

Last one you're confusing...they're both right and Komos is right you can convert the file without even having to use a program or have to download anything...

Btw, I filled my RF game with mostly LP and Trapt.

I see what you mean. I was unclear. What I meant to say to him was 'Your way requires a download.' I edited my post to reflect that.

So how many songs can you put as much as you want? or is it like one song per stage?

Keiko
September 30th, 2008, 01:05 AM
It's one song per file. Some stages like Glacier and Rooftop share the same song file.

Aside from that, the method works. I'm fighting with Scarlet Weather Rhapsody (feel free to brick me for playing Touhou games) music in the game! ;D

EDIT: For your reference, I have listed what song files are for what stages! ;D (save for Night City, haven't fought there.)

stage_buildingtop - Rooftop, Glacier, and Hangar
stage_chinatown - China Town
stage_halem - Blacktop Melee
stage_market - strangely enough...Zen Temple
stage_ship - Pirate Ship and Dos Palmas
stage_wresring - Ring and Resurrection
bgm_firehell - Inferno and Incinerator
bgm_lightvally - Moonlight Valley/Hill and Cliff Temple
bgm_scrollbuilding - Demolition (both of them. Duh.)

And here's the non-stage BGMs
menu_join - Pre-match room
menu_lobby - The main lobby screen. Nuff said.
menu_market - Shop
menu_mycharacter - My Character screen

I only listed the important ones though. Go nuts ;D

Keiko
September 30th, 2008, 08:48 PM
Oh wow. Tetris for a battle theme? Sounds...intresting XD

For me, I use the following songs...
(They're translations from the Touhou Wiki FYI Also, the character themes are remixed to fit SWR)

Lobby - Usual Days
Shop - Argue for and Against (Sounds very shop-esque IMHO)
Pre-match Room - Beautiful Nature Sight
My Character - Drunk as I Like (Song's pretty laid back)

Zen Temple - The Ground's Color is Yellow (In SWR, it's the Hakurei Shrine Ruins theme. It's only fitting.)
Dos Palmas/Ship - Ridiculous Game (Song sounds very fitting IMHO)
Ring/Resurrection - Mystic Oriental Love Consultation (The song sounds epic lol.)
China Town - Flowering Night (Pulled a song from my butt.)
Glacier/Night City/Rooftop/Hangar - Hiroari Shoots a Strange Bird ~ Till When? (Another random pick. And I thought Youmu's theme is awesome.)
Inferno/Incinerator - Septette for the Dead Princess (Yet another random.)
Moonlight/Cliff Temple - Lunatic Eyes ~ Invisible Full Moon (The title sounds fitting for Moonlight. Cliff Temple...not so much.)
Blacktop Melee - Bloom nobly, cherry blossoms of Sumizome ~ Border of Life (I HAVE to put this song in. One of my favorite themes ever.)
Demolition - Wind God Girl (yet another random)

Make sure you Enable View Known Fiel Extensions. If you just add .ogg to the end of a file name without that, it won't work. ((I did this, and after enabling file extension, I saw it was Zetsubuo Billy.ogg.mp3)) If you enabled it, you will see a .mp3 or similar file extension.

Go To Tools>Folder Options>View

Uncheck the box that says " Hide extensions for known file types"

After that, your files should look like " oranges.jpg" " someweirdmusic.mp3" Etc

Your File FOLDERS won't look like this, however.

Making it so you don't patch?

The person who posted said they put up the source code.
And someone else said it was a clean file...

I don't quite mess with mods/hacks/whatever for programs often, so I'm not sure what I would be looking for...

-------------

[So, my question]
Is this file safe to use. [As in, no spy/adware, virus, or keyloggers. ect.]
And can you use it to replace Sound Effects, Music Files, and Voice Files?

Cause I'd like this to replace the voice files with the japanese ones. (Replacing the music files doesn't sound like a bad idea either. But Winamp hasn't bothered me yet, so I may not need to)

----------

If this is bad at all (MLvalley not approving it, or a somehow infected file?) Either tell me so I can delete post, or could a mod delete it.

Huh, I was looking for this topic. Anywho, I usually listen to my own compilation of songs. In fact, I'll send you mine:

Keiru's Random RF Music Pack.rar (http://www.mediafire.com/?ig4lgjm1ml5)
This mainly contains random songs I just picked used. They mostly consist of upbeat J-core (Japanese Hardcore Techno) songs with a mix of Touhou too.

Keiru's Melty Blood RF Music Pack.rar (http://www.mediafire.com/?dl5zjzhmxjo)
This is mainly dedicated to TODHaseo/ShikiTohno since he suddenly became obsessed with Melty Blood ;)

I use 'Any Audio Converter' as my... well... audio converter from any format (as the name suggests) to Ogg Vorbis format.

Also, please tell me what you think of the music pack. Hope you enjoy it.

I don't know what you people are smoking. If you would read my guide, you'd realize you need NOTHING but a mouse and keyboard to make your computer recognize the files as .ogg. Seriously, you don't need to download ANY converter, ANY program, ANYTHING. Just make sure the 'Hide extensions for known file types' option is disables in the folder options menu, then edit the end ((EX .wav, .mp3 etc)) to MusicName.ogg.

ITS THAT DAMN SIMPLE.

The method is very ingenius Komos, thanks a lot, but isnt it easier just to turn the game music off in the game options and then use your media player to hear the song you want? (thats how i have been using it since the game music is tiresome and boring).

I use a bunch of arranged game music (nothing rocks like megaman and castlevania themes played with electric guitars) in my "gaming playlist" and it really puts more ownage in the game.

BTW if you want some good game music for playing rumble, this page is a free-downloading page from a band that has done a lot of video game arranged music (kinda like OCremix but using electric guitar arrangement more than electronic remix), enjoy the page. Oh also, all the music is in .ogg so no need to transform it if you are using komos method:
CarboHydroM - Music (http://carbohydrom.free.fr/music.html)

NOTE: I specially recommend Super Mario 64 - Penguin Cap for the glacier scenario, it pwns.

@gnomes: You can dowload music in youtube the next way first search in google "download helper" is a fire fox plugin. I recommend you that you go to the inferior part of the page and download an OLD version (3.2.2 preferably) since the newest version does not allow you to download mp3 from the pages (yeah, the plug in allowes you even to rip those "protected" mp3 that exist in myspace).
Using the plugin, go to the video in you tube, go to the plugin (in firefox tools->downloadhelper and if you did at the begining of the video (for some reason it disapers after 10 min of opening the page) you will se a file (with the icon of you tube) click and download it. this is the complete video in flv, now u need to transform that flv to avi or mpeg movie and rip the audio from it (just google it), dont expect high quality since after all, is a flv video but is better than nothing

I already addressed this. Running a media player in the background consumes CPU mem. Because of this, lag is about twice as likely as usual. Changing the music in the folders causes it to be loaded by the RF client, eliminating those extra CPU mem easting processes. The only problem I've found is a momentary FPS reduction as the game loads a big sound file. This only happens for half a second at the beginning of a round.

YouTube????????????????? Craving Explorer (http://www.crav-ing.com/)
^ I use that, Craving Explorer.
I download Youtube, or Niconico videos with that.

You can download them into different formats.
- AVI/MPEG/MP4 for video
- WAV or MP3 for audio
And also MP4 specifically for PSP, or iPod.

Should be easy to navigate through the page to download. (Click the download button, then click on which download you want. Install [left] or Zip [right])

And to use it, you just surf the webpages in that program, and click the movie film looking button, and click what format you want it to be downloaded as.

Hope it helped, that's one solution among many you can use.
