Anyone else liek Old Skool over next gen? I still prefer Sonic, Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and Final Fantasy 3 ((AMERICAN 3 JAP 6)) Over Halo, FF13, and whatever else there is

The classics will always be classics.

Chrono Trigger would have to be my favorite "old school" game.

I actually NEVER played Chrono Trigger. I was never able to find it.

nothing well ever beat out the original Sonic the hedgehog games..... /discussion

Anyone else every play the Teenage mutant ninja turtles game called Turtles in time? That is another one or my favorites, or how about the original Kirby or Kirby 2 with koo the owl and rick the hamster and kind the fish. Those were bitchen games. I was actually able to beat the original Kirby game in like 2 hours from start to finish after a while(no save features here folks). That was back when King DeeDeeDee was a bad ass. XD

I also really enjoy Megaman X I dunno if its a classic though......since its a little newer.....but the X series was my favorite....well the original ones like 1-6.

That doesn't mean I don't like games like halo.....theres alot of new stuff that's good too. I enjoyed gears of war alot the multi player on that game is awsome...same for halo multiplayer is fun. I do prefer 2-D though, like right now I'm playing my NDS mostly. I've been playing advance wars and The World End with You, and pokemon alot. Yeah I said it I still play pokemon......no matter how you slice it that game is a fun RPG.

OOO I just thought of an awsome one I left out, the Yoshi's Island game for SNES the one where he carries baby mario home that game was so much fun. I got the new version for DS too.

As it turns out, Komos, Chrono Trigger is being remade for the DS. It even includes some sort of cool new dungeon! (and more endings if they really love the fans)

Oh shit, I'm getting it then. I got FF1 For the Advance. 4 new dungeons, one with over a HUNDRED levels! One of the best games I ever got. And it even came with FF2!

Star Ocean: Till the end of time, however, Still has the most bonus dungeons and features of any game I've played.

Edit: @ Zombie, I still play Kirby 2. That game was bitchin. Never got all those secret things though.

That is some awsome news!

On other things I just remembered one of the best games I ever played. Anyone else here ever play Valkyrie Profile? One of the best looking best playing turn based RPG games I have ever played. The story and detail that game had was so awesome. I actually got the slightly updated port for my PSP, It looks so sweet and its portable now. =D

I don't hate my next gen, but nothing will ever be better than the Sonic The Hedgehog Games and Duck Hunt. I still wish I could shoot the dog and it would die.

Pokemon games are still win. Don't have a DS though so can't play the new ones.

Donkey Kong Country was awesome, Secret of Mana is a classic. But i still enjoy the current gen games. They can e really fun in there own way, and it's nice to see the realism coming into the current Gen. I don't like nostalgia fags completely bashing current gen, because it's a new breed of games. If you don't like it don't play it =/ Stick with your old games, and leave it be. Also, don't generalize all current gen into halo ><

TALES OF SERIES IS YOUR FRIEND!

*ahem* meh i like retro and semi retro(during the ps1 time era) chrono trigger was badass even the ps1 remake with its anime cutscenes FF7 is the game that got me into Rpg's(even though the game is overrated) but without that game i wouldnt be who i am today xD but alot of next gen games sucks nowadays either too short, somthing we already seen alot of times, lack of gameplay with imrpovement graphics :| and flame wars saying whats better than the other

Well since the 360 is still using standard discs, or double layered or whatever, the games HAVE to be shorter for people to fit all the information. The ps3 has so many more capibilities, being that it has the blu-ray technology and everything. We've only scratched the surface on whats to come. MGS4, and Gran Turismo are 2 games that are only a preview.

Outside of that, I agree with the game lengths.

I agree!

I believe video game production will slow down since the same shiet basically repeats over and over and it will end up being repetitive...

However, classics are classics!

I still love super mario bros. 2 xD now that's waaaaaay back!

Chrono trigger was voted by many the best game of the snes and i loved it (got almost all endings), the chars and storyline were great, but the team specials OWNED BIG TIME, Simply watching X-Slash attack with chrono and frog gives me a rush.

I also played valkirie profile, the mixed combo actions and combo attacks were for me like chrono trigger 2 should have been (not that mediocre chrono cross). The game owned more with the simple but fun system than most of the RPG's of the old PSX *cough cough final fantasy 7 *. Damn it, you even have the days counted and couldn't do some missions and bonus never again if you lost time....

I always wonder why people say "Old School Games Are Best". so what your saying is that you want to play games like mario/zelda forever? Or are you trying to say that you want a remake of old school games over and over...Next gen games are way better then the "old school" games. They're a lot more harder too beat, more entertaining(graphics), and a lot more time consuming. Old school games? they're called old school for a reason...THEIR TIME IS UP.

Classic > Next Gen is an easy argument to defend, because only the good ones are remembered. If I say "The Legend of the Mystical Ninja" (SNES), or "War Gods" (N64) do you have any idea what games I'm talking about? Probably not, those games suck, I had to check to make sure I got their names right. My point is, no one remembers all the crappy games so they only think of those great games.

Halo had so much hype as a game, since it was decent it will probably get remembered. That's one problem though, more money in games means more advertising, which means a shitty game could be advertised as much better.

My point is, when you talk about the PSX, it's hard to even THINK of bad games because you just forget them by the awesomeness of running through Metal Slug. I had to ask my friends for the name of a bad PSX game, only one could think of any: Tiny Tank.

Bad games came out for old systems too you know, the reason why there aren't many good ones for next gen is because they haven't been made yet.

For the game length thing, it's back to the advertising thing, bigger audience means more demand, long games take longer to make. Problem is with the ever growing amount of people who play games, those who haven't played the classics have no idea how good they can and should be, thus the company makes money, and most people are happy and willing to buy another.

I'm about to pass the game. They added this neat monster fighting feature thing.

Basically you have your monster 'train' while you go and play. When you get back, the monster is stronger (you can sort of influence what stats you want to push, [all spd, all str, etc]). You can then battle your monster with a CPU monster for an entrance fee. If your monster wins, you get items. The higher fee you pay, the better items you get. I've gotten REALLY awesome items by paying in portions of 5000, as compared to 65000 per item.

I'm about to pass the game. I havent noticed too many differences, other than the annoying new names for items.

There's something else I notice, the amount of demand for remakes. It does make sense for a good game to be remade with better graphics, despite what everyone says graphics are important to video games.

Most of the best games I've played were nearly remakes of another game but just done better (Improved story, physics, fairness, controls, etc.) and the perfect example would probably be Space Megaforce vs Einhander

Space Megaforce (Aka Super Aleste) - YouTube - Super Aleste on Nintendo Super NES (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPomf_Jftn8&feature=PlayList&p=A4DDF1D5455170E1&index=1)

Einhander - YouTube - Einhander - Gameplay video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Yn4semzHhc) (Weapon picked up first at 0:33, if you are unaware of gameplay.)

And Aegis Wing (Free game) from the Xbox live arcade was quite good too YouTube - Aegis Wing lvl 1 playthrough (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxDvMI4j5F8) ( 0:56, he picks a weapon, how every similar.)

Mainly I just want to say that remakes (though I'll probably buy them anyway) are just a way to make money using limited creativity.

Hmm.. I liked Sonic Next Gen...Just wished they didn't put those loading screens in the game. Just because of that, my interest in the game went way down.

Rag doll kung fu, It's Brawl for the ps3( well kinda of..) Fun, weird fighting game.

My top ten are..(from 1 to 10)
Q-bert
Sonic 3
MGS3
Pokemon Crystal
Pokemon stadium 2
Ace combat 5 the unsung war
Mega man battle network 3(Blue)
Mario kart wii
Crash bandicoot
Crash bandicoot 3(Time trio is it called?)
