Well, there's still 2 months left in the year, but judging by whats come out the last few months, I doubt there's much to look forward to.

And without further ado.. my top 3 for '08.

1. Frightened Rabbit - The Midnight Organ Fight
- This Scottish band's second release gave them a good deal of popularity outside of the UK. Every track on this album is fucking awesome, and has fully restored my faith in music today
Favorite Track - Head Rolls Off (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBcbDS5AGnk)
2. Los Campesinos - Hold on Now Youngster!
- Los Campesinos, or "The Farmers", are a new band from Wales. I was a little unsure about them when they released their debut EP earlier in the year, but after hearing the album I was able to fully appreciate how ridiculously good this band is.
Favorite Track: Death To Los Campesinos! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dc4GethJnBg)
3. Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes
- Another brand new band, this time out of Seattle, Fleet Foxes debuted earlier in the year with one of the best EPs I've heard in my entire life. Fleet Foxes are living proof that any band out of Seattle is automatically awesome.
Favorite Track: Blue Ridge Mountain

Other Great Albums
#4: The Mountain Goats - Heretic Pride
#5: Okkervil River - The Stage Names
#6: Bodies of Water - A Certain Feeling
#7: Vampire Weekend - Vampire Weekend
White Guys Jumping - Outside (http://mlvalley.com/forum/movies-music/221-white-guys-jumping.html)
Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks - Real Emotional Trash
The Dodos - Visitor
Fleet Foxes - Sun Giant EP
Blood On The Wall - Liferz
Shearwater - Rook
Of Montreal - Skeletal Lamping

So, what were your favorites?

I agree that viva la vida is an awesome song.

I also think Metallica's new cd, death magnetic, is badass in it's entirety.

I saw Frightened Rabbit the first time I saw Bodies of Water back in March. They were alright. I haven't listened to their album yet.

Also, Fleet Foxes rule. My favorite from the s/t is He Doesn't Know Why.

Also I made this faggy little top 10 thing in like August. So it makes no mention of the awesome new Okkervil River or Electric Six or Brian Wilson albums.

1. Bodies of Water - A Certain Feeling
2. of Montreal - Skeletal Lamping
3. John Mellencamp - Life, Death, Love and Freedom
4. Mount Eerie - Lost Wisdom
5. Mindless Self Indulgence - If
6. Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes
7. The Mountain Goats - Heretic Pride
8. Jordan Zevon - Insides Out
9. The Rubber Maids - Planet Cato
10. Mount Eerie - Dawn

Also there are some other nice things that were nice but not HoLy ShIT AmAZINg. Or EPs.

- Mount Eerie - Black Wooden Ceiling Opening EP
- Fleet Foxes - Sun Giant EP
- Port O'Brien - All We Could Do Was Sing
- Shearwater - Rook
- The Music Tapes - For Clouds and Tornadoes
- The Decemberists - Always the Bridesmaid
- Scars On Broadway - s/t

Also there's supposedly a new Beirut album coming out this fall. That would be awesome.

You REALLY need to get the full album, its fucking awesome.

The new Okkervil River album is amazing, as is the new Shearwater one.
I wasn't even aware The Mountain Goats or Brian Wilson released new albums this year, and I'm ashamed to say I haven't heard the new Of Montreal, or Decemberists. I can't do BitTorrent here :/

I snt you a link to Skeletal Lamping the day it leaked! Here is one anyway.
RapidShare: Easy Filehosting (http://rapidshare.com/files/139345729/Of_Montreal_-_Skeletal_Lamping.rar)

I was very confused the first time I listened to it. Took me a couple listens to like it, a couple more to love it, and I continue to like it more and more each time I listen to it now. Really fucking good.

Also the new Mountain Goats is probably their best all-around album.

And downloading the Frightened Rabbit album now!

I think I downloaded it on my old laptop, and probably forgot to listen. RS links are VERY nice.

The new FR album will not dissapoint.

Shit, I just wanna hear the vocals! I couldn't hear them at when I saw them because the sound dude at the Middle East Downstairs is fucking retarded.

Also FUCk. I forgot about the awesome new I'm From Barcelona album.

And the nice new Sparks album.

And the new gONNA gET gOT album.

Either way, this year rules!

Just got through listening to Skeletal Lampings. In my opinion the best OM album so far. Lots of Kevin Barnes signature fucked-uppedness, Of Montreal at their best.

YouTube - of Montreal - An Eluardian Instance (Live) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCEPcCyBOrY)

PS. Fleet Foxes are playing in MA tomorrow. Found this out last night. Shit was probably sold out months ago. G-g-g-gay!

It's mostly folk, pop, rock, and other various combinations of those three things.

Yeah, BoW is probably my favorite band ever. Also, if you haven't heard it yet, you should check out their first album, Ears Will Pop & Eyes Will Blink.

PS. Meredith totally dedicated the last Boston show to me :cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::c ool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:

Also I have two other albums out this year. One is the Outside b-sides and the other is some weird experimental thing I did last winter. So you can check those out if you want.

Super Indie Superfolk! Vol. 1 (b-sides) (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ynzdamwey2m)
Polluted Mashpee Ponds (experimental thing) (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ecygtzoqyii)

Also I made a list of all the things I've listened to so far in 2008 and scored them and shit because some other dude did it and I thought it was a good idea. (http://www.last.fm/user/McGerkey/journal/2008/10/16/284ovd_i_like_two_thousand_and_eight_it_is_pretty_ nice)

Also I downloaded that Hold On Now Youngster album the other day. Haven't listened to it yet. I'll get on it eventually.

Also, OF MONTREAL TOMORROW FUCK YES

It's too bad you didn't get a picture of Santuit Pond when it was all green and disgusting this summer. Would've made the perfect cover for Polluted Mashpee Ponds.
