Lately I feel that I've really been lacking in the 1 vs 1 department. I usually lose to people my own level (45) and sometimes even lower. I've never really been that great at 1 v 1, but it's now really starting to get to me. Is there any tips or tricks or anything like that that could help me improve my 1 vs 1 skills? Thanks everyone.

Watch what they do, counterattack.
Think of it like playing an old video game. You'll lose the first couple tries, but after that, that big alien boss will be nothing to you.

Is there anything specific about drifting? Like I know drifting is just moving around your opponent, but I'm very impatient and am usually the one to make the first move.

be more patient, sometimes just stand there till they try to ram or hit you, then just double jump till your behind them and kick they asses

After 1 on 1ing some more, I notice that I really have trouble when my opponent attacks me as soon as I get up. For example, I get knocked down, my opponent either blocks my recovery attack or dodges it and then continues to hit me. How could I remedy this problem?
Also just a question about drifting, how much speed do I need to drift successfully?

Don't recovery attack predictably. Your recovery punch is the best escape. Sometimes just get up and block, or attack the moment you get up if you think you can catch your opponent off guard. When you get knocked down, it becomes a guessing game. Guess right, you're off the hook and back on your feet. Guess wrong, and you're possibly on the ground again. This is called a wake-up game.
Drifting at the most basic is simply just moving around, mostly around your opponent. The purpose is to make it harder for opponent to aim his/her attacks at you. You do not need speed. You simply just need to move so that your opponent does not have to aim at one direction only and hit you every time.
While you want to move around to make yourself unpredictable, you also want to make your opponent more predictable. To do this, you implement a concept referred to as: Pressure.
Pressuring is forcing your opponent into a defensive position where you can implement offensive tactics in hopes of getting them caught off guard. I'll give some examples:
1.) You do your first punch and it hits them. They are now stuck in a hit stun. You have the following options.
a.) Follow-through with the rest of your punch combo. Your opponent must guess correctly and block immediately after your first punch to possibly block the rest of the combo. Most people block on reaction.
b.) Follow with a throw right after, commonly referred to as a tick-throw. Since most opponent block on reaction, they could be thrown. Your opponent must guess correctly by immediately attacking after your first punch, turn around, or jump. It's also worth mentioning that all of these responses might not work and they will be thrown anyways because of possible lag.
c.) Follow with a cross-over kick. A cross-over kick is where you do a quick double jump over your opponents and hit their back with a jump kick. Doesn't work if they have a shell. Your opponent must guess correctly by moving away or by turning around and block. If they jump in the air, it's likely they will be hit.
That's one example. There are many others. Not to mention there are a lot of things you can do after one single punch.
It's a matter of learning how to defend yourself and guess when your opponent will stop attacking so you can go on the offensive and apply pressure. Just play more.
Also, don't read DeSouler's shit. It's vague, unexplained, and pretty dumb. No one legitimately good ever rams in a 1v1s unless they aren't taking things seriously.

Also Play with NO STATS. Trust me I sucked at RF until I started playing with no stats. Most people Stack STR because they dont know how to play or SP because they just wanna run and exo you to death but Neither works Against someone who knows what they are doing.
Also Dont Rely on your EXOs. I only equip Devil shadow now and I dont use it unless the person im fighting starts to runnning all over the map trying to get away and be a douchebag. Not using your exo during a 1v1 is going to make you good fast.

To Yoshi13: Thanks, that really gave me some food for thought and inspiration to implement those ideas in 1 on 1's.
To Kane91801: I don't think my stats are super excessive, I have 34 str and 36 speed; which is actually quite low compared to some people who enchant beyond ridiculous levels. I also never use my exos in a 1 on 1. I think using exos in a 1 on 1 is just like saying you can't win without an advantage.

No tricky timing. Just need to be done quickly.
The moment you press the two buttons for your panic attack, you instantly want to nanmu and spam punch.
If you really need a timing indicator treat it as: You want to nanmu before your panic even looks like it comes out.
